Benefits and uses of mustard oil
Mustard oil has been used for improved hair growth for centuries in the subcontinent. In Ayurvedic medicine massaging the body with it helps reduce muscular tension, increases blood circulation and activates the sweat glands. This oil is also known for having anti-fungal and anti-viral properties.
People have also used mustard oil to help with congestion, the burning scent aids in opening up ones blocked nasal passages. The monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats are good for heart health.
Certain western countries worry about the levels of erucic acid present in mustard oil, which is why consumption is banned. In the Pakistan region, it has been used for centuries in the preparation of food, so it is hard to say if the western studies have it figured correctly. The effects were studied in mice but were not replicable in other animals
